Whew...I am still so tired :P But thats OK! I am a grandma now and got to spend the night with Christina and baby Nik :) We banished Justin to get him some much needed sleep. Nik slept very well last night. Up one time from 2-3am. He is a very calm baby so far. For those who didnt know Nik was born with bilateral cleft lip and a slight defect in the gum line. The pallet (or roof of his mouth) is fine. Eating is not a problem for him :) There will be a few surgeries down the road to repair his lip but it is repairable. We found out about the cleft on an ultrasound at 4mo. Did not know how extensive it would be until birth. We are fortunate and thankful (thanks for some serious praying from lots of folks) that it is no more serious than it is. Christina and Justin did GREAT in delivery. The entire medical staff has been AWESOME! Dr Bitner,an intern who was the first person to see the cleft on US, was also (by coincindence.....hmmmm) there for delivery. Dr Levy, who is Justin and Christina's family doctor, has been there from the start as well. He did alot to educate us and ease the fear of the unknown. He delivered Nik and was as pround as any of us there. He is an awesome doctor and I wish there were many more like him! The nurses have been very helpful, giving Christina and Justin helpful hints and guidance on this new journey in their life.
